Garage Door Panel Replacement in Tampa

One dented or split section replaced instead of the whole door — when the model is still available and the rest of the door is sound.

Single panel$285 – $640
Two panels$540 – $1,150
Timeline1–2 weeks
Vs. new doorOften half the cost

When one section is the whole problem

Somebody reversed into the bottom panel. A storm drove debris into the door. A dent has rusted through and started to split. The rest of the door is perfectly serviceable and nobody wants to spend two thousand dollars because of one section.

Panel replacement is often the right answer, and it is the repair most companies would rather not quote because a whole new door is a much larger sale. It runs $285 to $640 per section against $1,150 to $3,400 for a new door.

When it works

  • The model is still available. The main constraint. Doors under about fifteen years old from a major manufacturer are usually still supported.
  • Only one or two sections are damaged. Past three, the economics tip toward replacement.
  • The track and frame are straight. Impact hard enough to bend the track means a bigger job.
  • The other sections are sound. No widespread rust, delamination or splitting.
  • You can live with a slight colour difference. More on this below.

When it does not

Discontinued doors are the usual blocker. If your model is out of production, a matching section may simply not exist, and a close-but-wrong panel looks worse than the dent did. Widespread rust along the bottom section, delamination on an insulated door, or damage across three or more sections all point toward a full replacement instead.

Be realistic about colourA replacement panel is new paint next to paint that has spent years in Florida sun. Even a correct factory colour match will read slightly different for the first year or so, and on a white door the difference is usually minor. On a dark or wood-finish door it can be obvious, so we will show you a sample before ordering.

Which section it is matters

The bottom section takes most damage and is the most straightforward to replace. It is also the one carrying the cable brackets, so the cables get inspected as part of the work. Middle and top sections are more involved because the door has to be partly dismantled, and the top section on many doors carries the opener bracket.

Timeline

Panels are ordered rather than stocked, so allow one to two weeks from approval. We take measurements and the model details on the first visit, order the section, and fit it in a single appointment when it arrives. If the door is currently unusable we will get it safe and operable in the meantime rather than leaving you without a garage for a fortnight.

Insurance

Vehicle impact and storm damage are frequently covered where wear and rust are not. We photograph the damage before touching anything and provide an itemised estimate in the format adjusters expect. We will not inflate an estimate to match a settlement figure — our number is our number.

Questions

Garage Door Panel Replacement FAQs

Yes, provided the model is still available and the rest of the door is sound. It runs $285 to $640 per section against $1,150 to $3,400 for a full replacement, so it is worth asking about before anyone quotes you a whole new door.

Structurally yes, in colour approximately. New paint beside years-old Florida-weathered paint reads slightly different for the first year. On white doors the difference is usually minor; on dark or wood-finish doors it can be noticeable. We show you a sample before ordering.

One to two weeks to get the section, then a single appointment to fit it. We measure and identify the model on the first visit. If the door is unusable in the meantime we will make it safe and operable rather than leaving you without a garage.

Then a matching section may not exist, and a near-match often looks worse than the damage. That is the most common reason panel replacement is not possible. In that case we quote a full replacement and explain plainly why the panel route is closed.

Three is roughly the tipping point. At three or more sections the cost approaches a new door, and you would be putting new panels onto older hardware and older remaining sections. We will quote both so you can see the numbers side by side.

Often, if the cause was a specific event like a vehicle hitting the door or storm debris. Wear, rust and age are not covered by any policy. We document the damage photographically before starting and provide an itemised estimate for your adjuster.

Partly dismantled, yes. The sections above the damaged one have to come off to get it out, which is why middle and top sections cost more than the bottom. It is still a single-appointment job once the panel is on site.

Usually worth it. While the door is apart, refreshing hinges and rollers on the affected sections adds $95 to $230 and saves a separate visit later. If your rollers are the original nylon ones and over ten years old, this is the moment.

If it is cosmetic and the door works, that is your call and we will not push. If the dent has cracked the skin, started rusting through, or is deep enough to affect how the section sits in the track, it is worth addressing before it spreads.

We can fit a factory-finish panel in the closest available colour. Full repainting of the door to make everything uniform is a painter’s job rather than ours, but it is a legitimate option worth considering if an exact match matters to you.
