When replacement is genuinely the answer
We are a repair company first, and most doors that get quoted for replacement do not need it. Springs, cables, rollers, openers and single panels are all serviceable. So before quoting a new door we will tell you honestly whether a repair would do.
Replacement is the right call when several sections are damaged, when rust has gone through the bottom section, when an insulated door has delaminated, when the model is discontinued and a panel cannot be sourced, or when your insurer requires a wind rating your current door does not have.
Wind rating, and why it matters more here
This is the part most Tampa homeowners have not been told. The garage door is the largest opening on a typical house and frequently its weakest point in a storm. If it fails, wind enters and pressurises the structure from inside — which is how roofs come off. It is not a small detail, and it is why Florida code treats garage doors specifically.
Current code for our area requires doors rated to defined design pressures, and rated doors carry a permanent label showing it. If your door predates that requirement or was replaced without a permit, it may well not comply. That matters for insurance, for resale, and genuinely for the outcome of a bad storm. Insulation, honestly assessed
Insulated doors are sold hard on energy savings. In a Florida attached garage the real benefit is smaller than the marketing implies unless the garage is conditioned or you use it as a workshop. What the installation covers
Removal and disposal of the old door and hardware, new tracks, new springs sized to the new door weight, new rollers and hinges, fitting and squaring the sections, weather seal at the base and sides, balancing, and full cycle and safety testing. If you are keeping your existing opener we test it against the new door weight and tell you if it is undersized.
Timeline
Doors are ordered to size, so allow one to three weeks depending on model and colour. Installation itself is a single day for most residential doors. We take exact measurements on the quoting visit rather than working from a standard size, because garage openings in this area vary more than people expect, particularly in older neighbourhoods.

We do not recommend it and usually will not do it. Tracks wear, and old tracks on a new door compromise the whole install, the balance and the warranty. The saving is small relative to the cost of the door and the risk is not worth it.
